My first painting of a person

Before this piece I had never painted a person, infact, I was afraid to paint a person. But I was presented with an opportunity to help raise money for the TCC south campus art scholarship fund, I said OK, I'll try. I'm really proud of this piece, I surprised myself. It turned out much better than I thought it would. I learned that I can paint people.

Wisconsin memories

For this piece I used complementary colors (purple and red) and white. I chose the two colors because purple is my favorite color and red because the picnic table my grandfather built he painted red. I painted this one in memory of my father.

For my husband

This piece I painted for my husband. He is a preacher and is my Pastor. So for this piece it seemed fitting to paint a Bible and a cross in black and white and give it to my husband.
It was interesting to paint an entire painting with only two colors.

My organic piece

This piece for me was really weird. I had never even thought of applying smoke to a canvas and calling it art. I also had never thought of putting paint on a paper plate, swirling it around, and calling it art. I really don't like this piece much, but it did help me to know what I don't like.  So it was a good experience, never the less.

Something different

This piece is a sculpture after the style of David Bates. I didn't know how to approach this project at first, but once I started putting things together, it just came out this way. This was a fun piece for me. I enjoyed putting things like cardboard and styrofoam together and watching it turn into a man sitting on a chair.

Painting # 2

With this painting I picked two objects that didn't seem to go together. The idea is that it's party time. The watch and the numbers represent time and lots of it and the shoes represent party shoes. While painting the shoes I learned how to make things look 3 demeantional.

My First Painting

I had not painted anything before this piece. I learned a lot about color and the different values of a particular color. For instance black is not just one flat color, it consists of many different values of black. I had to even at some purple and some red to show the reflection of the back ground. This was a very good experience!
